As a journalist S Rajendra Babu has twenty years experience with India Today Malayalam edition. Arts, Culture and Music are his specialized fields. Under the dynamic leadership of G Devarajan, the 50th year of Malayalam Film Music Festival was conducted at Thiruvananthapuram in 1994 under the sponsorship of the Cultural Dept. of the govt. of Kerala for which Rajendra babu was the co ordinator to gather all Music Directors, Lyricists, Singers from Chennai. All music directors, singers and lyricists from the whole malayalam film industry participated in the three day long function. The legendary of Indian Music Naushad Ali was the chief guest.

Hailing from a musical based family at Asramam in Kollam District, Kerala, Rajendra Babu was fully engaged with music, arts and cultural activities especially by conducting music programs, composing songs and background score for dramas etc. After his college studies he joined with music director Kannur Rajan as his assistant in recording studios at Madras. Lathika, the younger sister of Rajendra Babu also accompanied him to continue her higher studies in carnatic music at Adayar Govt Music College from where she got the first rank and gold medal from the then chief minister MG Ramachandran. Later she became a noted playback singer in malayalam films.

Rajendra Babu is an active member of Kerala Union of Working Journalists (KUWJ), Chennai. He is the founder member of Kerala Cultural & Welfare Association of Chennai which is very active in the cultural and welfare programs. Rajendra Babu is settled in Chennai with his wife Sujatha Babu, son Sarath Babu and daughter Haritha Babu.
